Contemporary Dance is the UK’s fastest growing art form. More than 4.8 million people regularly attend community dance groups each year in England alone. Contemporary is great for losing weight, maintaining strong bones, improving posture and muscle strength, increasing balance and co-ordination and beating stress. One of the best things about dancing is that while you’re having fun moving to music and meeting new people, you’re getting all the health benefits of a good workout.

natd130Contemporary is a very creative genre of dance which focuses on performance quality rather than following rules. All students are welcome at our classes, age or abilities don’t matter! Everyone gets a chance to join in. Children spend this class working on their International Dance Rewards where they gain certificates and badges for their hard work. There are 9 levels for students to complete. They also learn pieces that will be performed at events around Southampton and in our end of year show in June!

This class is also involved in all of the dance school’s extra performances and the end of year show in June!
